Dear Trinity Congregation,
The past month has been an active one for the Staff Support Ministry. The result of all our communication was shared and reviewed with the parish planning council on January 3rd, and now it is only fitting that we communicate with each of you.
As many of you know, Nancy Tolford-Peeno was on leave during November and much of December. During this time, however, she continued to plan worship and thus became quite adept at telecommuting. She also discovered how much more productive she was at home as opposed to the office. Finally, and perhaps most important, Nancy’s doctor was pleased she was finally doing what is medically necessary for her recovery from her surgeries of this past year. Therefore, for the foreseeable future, Nancy will be at the church on Saturdays as she prepares for worship, on Sundays as she helps lead worship, and one other day selected on the basis of each week’s particular schedule. When other pastoral staff is not available, she will make hospital calls. She will also assist in “crisis” situations, just as she has in the past. The new phone system here at Trinity will allow callers to leave a personal message for Nancy that she can retrieve from home. In short, Nancy will continue her work for Trinity, but not always on site.
Second, our choir director, Kate Holmes, had planned to take over the bell choir while Janet Shoup is on a six month sabbatical to complete the requirements for her principal’s certificate. However, unforeseen issues have become more of a priority for Kate; we are currently without a bell choir director. Kate’s husband, Lee, began leading some rehearsals this fall, and with the blessing of the choir, will officially be our new chancel choir director in 2008. Lee’s credentials are impressive: He holds a Bachelor of Music in music theory and composition from Stetson University and has served churches in Florida in a variety of musical roles. The choir sounded wonderful when they performed their cantata on December 23rd, further proof that they are in highly qualified hands.
Continue to pray for all our staff: Pastor Rich, Pastor Erv, Nancy, Kim, Jean, Dave, Kathy, Charlie, Janet and Lee. We are very blessed that they have been called to share their gifts with us. Should you have any further concerns or comments, please feel free to direct them to me.
Sincerely,
Beth Lange
