Here you will learn more about the heritage of Trinity. Our roots are in the German culture of the greater Cincinnati area, as the city moved out from the riverfront to the countryside of Mt. Healthy in the mid 1800's. Today we have one of the larger churches in our area, and we have been building on that strength of history, family connectedness, and a desire to serve the changing neighborhood we are a part of.

On August 25, 1853, a few German
Protestant families united to establish "Die Evangelische
Lutherarische Dreifaltigskeit Gemeide" in Mt. Healthy, Ohio.
It was far from smooth sailing for that little congregation.
For many years it was served by various visiting pastors from
neighboring Protestant churches, and it was difficult to create a
true identity. More progress was made toward this when the
congregation became loosely affiliated with the Evangelical Synod of
North America in 1883.
In 1886 a parsonage was built which was
in use until 1964, and in 1890 a new church edifice was constructed
to replace old Trinity Hall, built in 1853. Trinity Hall
remained as an educational and recreational room until it and the
1890 church were both razed when the present sanctuary was built in
1928.
The bell calling people to worship today is the same bell which hung in an 85 foot steeple on that little church. The bell rings out hope today as it has for all members of Trinity since 1891. How very fitting that the Sunday School children, who paid $219.50 for the 1007.5 pound bell in 1890 should call it "Hoffnung", or "Hope".
For some years the pastors of Trinity had
been called from the Evangelical Lutheran joint Synod of Ohio and
other states. That body became part of the American Lutheran
Church formed in 1931 and Trinity joined that church. In 1960
The American Lutheran Church merged with other Lutheran
denominations to form a new American Lutheran church. Then in
1989 another merger of several Lutheran Churches became the
Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and Trinity is at present a
member of this body.
Additional land was acquired in 1940 and
the building plans were made but the completion was delayed by World
War II and it's aftermath. It was July 1953 before the first
educational unit was dedicated and March 1964 when the final
building was dedicated. Since then the properties behind the
church were purchased for expanded community outreach. Our
newest addition was finished in October 2008 and it includes ground
level entrance to our sanctuary, an elevator to reach the lower
level, a large gathering space, an administrative office, and a
currently unfinished space in the lower level.
Trinity has been busy in other types of
building activities. Since the mid 1930's much emphasis has
been placed on missions. Trinity has cradled a neighboring
congregation and mothered four others. We are one of the
partners in the Mt Healthy Alliance, which provides a variety of
services to those in need - food, clothing, other assistance.
The congregation continues its varied activities with God's help.
